DO YOU WANT TO PAY WITH YOUR FACE?

The new article on technology review.com by Will Knight discusses paying with your face; a current detecting is system in China. This new technology enables one to make authorized payments, provide access to facilities, perform bank transactions, shop from stores, and use transportation services. It also provides a service that allows police to track down criminals.
For years, computers have become extraordinarily good at identifying faces, and the technology is advancing quickly in China. It is just right for both surveillance and convenience. A Chinese startup invested a billion dollars in this technology and set the system in motion.  The technology could be employed in the following manner.  Everyone who works in a building has his or her face scanned into a database of people who can have easy access into a building. Then, when a person is about to enter that building, his or her face is scanned and searched for on the database. A new face can be added to that database. The face then acts as an ID and provides automatic access to the building. Furthermore, people can use this technology for various transaction like transferring money and mobile payments by only using their face ID.  Moreover, local governments can recognize suspected criminals in video from surveillance cameras.
This is really one of the major breakthroughs technologies. One can make a comparison between using the credit card without a password and using this face recognition program. Let us assume that one loses a credit card, somebody gets hold of that card and might use it since it does not need a password. But with this technology, the rightful owner of the card is the only person who is eligible to gain access for procedures. Nobody can use the card for the illegal purposes. This new technology is very beneficial and practical. In the past, people went to the bank and waited in line for drawing or depositing money. But now thankfully people do not need to wait in a long queue at the bank.  One only needs to log onto Internet banking. Thus, technology can often make life easier and save time. I would like to conclude with a fabulous quote pointed out by Bill Gates: “Technology is unlocking the innate compassion we have for our fellow human beings”. Each step of technology is like a magic, which touches our lives.
